The Home Office under John Reid has handed prisoners a get out of jail free card because the jails are getting full.
He also issued instructions to Judges and Magistrates not to jail many criminals for the same reason.
It would be funny if it were not so serious.
Perhaps they should convert the new Home Office building into a prison, it would certainly be put to better use than it is at present.
